My sister is a Survivor. She’s a beautiful Mom, Grandmother, wife, sister, daughter and friend. When you look at her today you may not realize the struggles she has overcome to be here. She has survived childhood trauma, mental health challenges and substance use disorder. All of these have been prevalent in my family for many generations and are hard to talk about. I am so proud of the fact that she is still here! I know it isn’t easy for her. Some days are really hard. I don’t want to underestimate the reality of living with pain and surviving it. I know she’s used many available resources throughout the years – all are an important part of surviving and thriving. I also know that my sister depends on her faith in God to sustain her and give her hope most days. My son’s death over 5 years ago was very hard for her. She has been very supportive of Honor Connor and our mission. I know she loved Connor and I love her!
